mom’s mac cheese
8oz box macaroni
2 cups extra sharp cheddar, shredded
¼ cup parmesan cheese, shredded
¼ cup butter
½ cup flour
2 cups milk
salt & pepper
- Preheat oven to 375°
- Boil some water and cook the pasta for as long as the box says to
- Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small saucepan, then remove from heat
- Gradually stir in the flour
- Then gradually stir in the milk, add salt & pepper to taste
- Put sauce on medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly
- In a casserole dish layer the pasta, sauce, and cheddar cheese repeatedly until all is used up.
- Sprinkle top with parmesan cheese
- Bake at 375° for 15-20 minutes
If you’re feeling creative, you can add various extras to this dish. I’ve tried mustard, Italian sausage, ham, and tomatoes. One at a time of course, not all together. If you’re the sort that likes the “everything goes meatlovers” kind of pizza, then go for it.
